Operating Costs
General contributions ensure that our centers can operate on a day to day basis. They cover light, heat, offerings of all kinds, telephone and internet service, and general maintenance. Most of all, these contributions help to create a home base for Rinpoche’s Dharma activities. These contributions are crucial for our Dharma home. Please consider making one.
Orgyen Cho Dzong Multi-Phased Retreat Project
1- Improve our facilities
*Renovate Buddha House as a retreat zone.
COMPLETED AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
This project included renovating all the bathrooms, winterizing the building (insulation of walls and floor, replacing all doors and windows with double-paned ones) and sound-proofing the rooms.
We thank all the contributors who made this possible.
* Cloister the retreat zone with a wooden fence.
All funds have been raised for this work.
*Remodel the cabin and install a composting toilet.
An additional $3,000 is needed to complete this work.
*Winterize a building to house caretakers.
Caretakers will be in residence to provide shopping and other services for retreatants.
$10,000 is needed for a forced hot air heating system and other improvements.
* New retreat cottage
This winter, the Sangha was given a fully winterized, furnished cottage by a lake in nearby Gilboa. Our benefactor’s wish was to change lives significantly with her gift. This venue will be available exclusively for long retreats (3 months-1 year).
We are most grateful to our generous benefactor.
Funding is needed for on-going up-keep of the cottage.
* General maintenance of Orgyen Cho Dzong

2- Build new retreat cabins on our 30-acres of forest across the stream.
To be completed as funds are raised
Our goal is to have buildings that are usable through the winter, long-lasting, as self-sufficient as possible (ideally entirely off the grid), and still affordable.
*Upgrade the path to the site into a “road.”
This is necessary to give access to the site for delivery of the cabins and materials and later for service and maintenance.
$3,800 is needed to complete the road.
*Complete the bridge over the stream.
$2,600 is needed to complete the bridge.
*Prepare platforms for each cabin
This includes clearing and leveling the land and laying a platform of gravel for drainage.
$1,500 is needed for each cabin platform.
*Build new cabins.
$ 25,000 is needed for each cabin.
