In preparation for the spring, summer and autumn seasons we are currently accepting reservations for our various retreat facilities.

Those interested should contact the center by email at OCDSangha@aol.com. For your first retreat at Orgyen Cho Dzong you will need to present a formal request explaining the nature of your retreat along with a supporting letter from your teacher. If you cannot provide a recommendation, you will be requested to have an interview with one of our resident lamas.

RETREATS

The daily rate is $25 which is the charge for the room or cabin itself, electricity, propane for cooking and support (shopping, etc.) during the retreat. Retreatants provide their own food and do their own food preparation.

For periods up to two weeks the daily rate applies, a three week retreat $415, a one month retreat $580.

In addition, the current cost for a canister of propane is $21 per canister. As people have varying needs, regarding heat retreatants pay for what they actually use.

A non-refundable 10% deposit is required to reserve your dates.

Please note, that for your first retreat at Orgyen Cho Dzong you will need to present a formal request explaining the nature of your retreat along with a supporting letter from your teacher. The daily charge for room and board is $50 during group retreats and teachings.

Registration is required and a non-refundable deposit of 10% of your anticipated room and board charges is also required.

Financial arrangements: may be made on a case-by-case basis.

Lamp House

The center makes lamp offerings on a regular basis. Individuals who wish to be included or sponsor an offering may contact the center by phone or email.

To abandon negative actions and adopt positive ones is the way of the Victorious Ones. The primary act to abandon is that of taking the life of another being. We counteract this negative action by the act of freeing lives and developing positive attitude. Therefore, giving refuge and saving life is the act of the Bodhisattvas or Compassionate Ones. This month of Saga Dawa, Friday, May 10 to Saturday, June 8 is when all the planets and stars come together and make this auspicious month a Bumgyur Dawa (100,000 increasing the positive merits). It’s rare and important so take the opportunity to practice at this moment. Freeing lives alone is not sufficient. It must be infused with prayers for the lives of these beings, offering of relics to the animals that are being freed for purification at the time of their death so that they will have a better rebirth and dedication to all parent sentient beings. There is no better time to prepare a better karma for ourselves by adopting these virtues. This is also a preparation for our next life. This year, during Saga Dawa, I intend to release as many lives as possible on a grand scale. Therefore, I request all students, friends and those concerned to contribute generously.
