In the early 1990's Rinpoche planted many seeds, including a number of small trees at Laugeral which are now mature.
Laugeral is a Nyingma Buddhist meditation and study center founded in 1977 by H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche, the first head of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, a great yogin, tertön (visionary Lama) and meditation master who passed away in 1987. The center is directed by his son and dharma lineage sucessor, H.H. Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche, whose European residence is nearby.

The teachings and practices of Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism are periodically given by Shenphen Rinpoche and occasionally other Lamas that he has invited to teach, such as Lama Tenzin Samphal, who has assisted him for many years. Emphasis of the teachings is on intensive practice according to the nine yana system of the Nyingma lineage. Personal instruction, oral transmission, empowerments, daily practice, and retreats are considered essential. Students are encouraged to undertake and complete the ngöndro (preliminary practices). This and subsequent practices revealed by Dudjom Rinpoche and Dudjom Lingpa are also emphasized. Transmission and practice of the inner tantras of Nyingma, i.e. Mahayoga, Anuyoga, and Dzog chen is authentic and rigorous. A complete system for practice is provided, the objective of which is the unfolding within the practitioner of the true nature of the mind - uncontrived wisdom and compassion. Appropriate qualifications for graduated practice are generally required, but the specific situation and character of the individual are also taken into account. H.H. Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche speaks English fluently in addition to his native tongue Tibetan.

The working languages at Laugeral are French and English. Ritual meditative (sadhana) practices are presented in Tibetan with line by line translations.

Laugeral is located a pleasant fifteen miniute walk from the village of Le Moustier, situated on the river Vezere between Les Eyzies and Montignac-Lascaux.
