Retreats at Orgyen Chö Dzong
In Ratna House there are now rooms which are available for retreats all year round. Below are some photos for you to see.
Individual retreat rooms with private attached bathroom and a shared kitchen.
Caravan in the depths of about 60 acres of forested woods
We have one caravan which is fully equipped and available from Spring through to Autumn. This is for a more isolated retreat experience and is set in the woods beside a lovely stream.
Retreat cottage at Gilboa
Some years ago the sangha was given a beautiful, quiet, fully furnished cottage in the mountains by a lake near Gilboa. The cottage is winterized and lies about 20 minutes drive from Orgyen Chö Dzong. Our benefactor’s wish was to change lives significantly with her gift. This venue is mainly intended for longer retreats, but requests for shorter retreats will also be considered.
We are happy to receive requests for reservations for our various retreat facilities in preparation for the Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter seasons. Those interested should contact the center by email at OCDSangha@gmail.com or call on 518 966 4077.
If you are new to Orgyen Chö Dzong and our sangha, you will need to make a request explaining the nature of your retreat, describing a bit about your background as a practitioner and ideally send it with a supporting letter from your teacher. If you cannot provide a letter of support, you may be requested to attend a short interview with a lama.
Our daily/weekly/monthly rates* for retreat are as follows:
Daily rate $30 per day
1 week $175
3 weeks $495
1 month $655
For more than one month the rate is reduced according to length down to $580 minimum per month.
The rates include charges for:- a room, caravan or cottage itself; electricity; propane for a room and the cottage; plus for support, (shopping, etc.), during the retreat. Retreatants provide their own food and do their own cooking.
The daily rate for these has not actually changed. The rates for 3 weeks and 1 month is shown inclusive of 2 days to set up and 2 days to wind down following the end of the retreat.
In addition, for the caravan, retreatants pay for their own propane use per canister. The current cost is $25 per canister.
A non-refundable deposit of 10% is generally required.
Financial arrangements may be made on a case-by-case basis.
*An additional charge may apply to take account of heat costs in heavy winter months.
