Venerable Lama Tenzin Samphel
Born in Spiti in the Himalayan region of India, Lama Tenzin started his studies at the monastery of His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche in Orissa. After 12 years of study and practice at Urgyen Dongak Choling, the monastery in Nepal of his master, he became a Lama and taught Buddhism and philosophy in the same monastery.
Since 1987, Lama Tenzin has resided in France, where he is the representative of HH Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche in the center Urgyen Samye Choling. In 1999, he became the Lama responsible for Shedup Kunsang Choling and has resided since 2002 in the center situated in Picardie, but gives teachings on Dharma once a month in Paris.
Lama Tenzin taught Tibetan language and Buddhist philosophy for eight years at INALCO. He contributed and continues to participate in research at the university in the field of Tibetology. Of the diverse people that come to consult with him, they come for spirituality, and because they appreciate his capacity for listening, his profound knowledge of Buddhism, his benevolence, his appropriate instructions, his patience, and his simplicity.
He speaks French and English in addition to his native Tibetan, Hindi, and Nepali.
